Angela A. Rivellese, Graduated with honors in Medicine, at the University of Naples, Italy, in 1974. In 1975-76 she was Research Assistant at the Endocrine Unit, Hammersmith Hospital, London. In 1979 she got her Post-graduate degree in Endocrinology and in 1983 in Internal Medicine. She was Clinical Assistant at the Institute of Internal Medicine from 1976 to 1980, and Researcher at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine, Federico II University Medical School, Naples, Italy from 1980-2004, where she is now Full Professor of Internal Medicine.
In 1993 she was Visiting Professor at the Department of Medicine, University of Helsinki.
From 2004 to 2007 she was Chairman of the EASD Study Group on Diabetes and Nutrition and from 1998 to 2002 she was Executive Board Member of the Italian Diabetes Society. Since the year 2000 she is Head physician of the Hyperlipidemia and Diabetes Unit.
From 2006 to 2016 she was Chairman of the Council for the University degree of Dietitian, Federico II University, Napoli and is now Chairman of the Council for the University Master degree in Human Nutrition Science at the Federico II University in Naples.

2008 to date: Associate Editor for the journal Nutrition, Metabolism and Cardiovascular Diseases

Her research activity focuses mainly on nutrition and metabolic diseases; diabetes and lipid metabolism; diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, with particular experience in intervention clinical trials. She has authored more than two hundred full papers on peer-reviewed, mostly international journals, with a total I.F. of more than 800.
